National School Choice Week at SIA

Earlier in January, the class visited the Oregon Historical Society in downtown Portland and toured the PLACE photography exhibit on display there. In the exhibit, local artists displayed photographs featuring many amazing places throughout Oregon. Back at school, we analyzed and discussed the photos we'd seen in the exhibit, considering what made them unique and interesting, as well as what we thought, felt, or wondered while viewing them. Then, we used our iPads to photograph some of the amazing places right outside the doors of our school! After each student carefully selected and edited their best photograph, they then wrote a paragraph describing their inspiration and thoughts about their artwork. These were displayed at "It's History" Night and the Savoring Sauvie breakfast last week. The students' work is currently on display in the hall outside the 5th grade classroom.
