Happy Halloween!

During the month of October, we read an adaptation of The Legend of Sleepy Hollow by Washington Irving, found in Storyworks magazine. Students then used the story as a mentor text to write their own spooky tales! Students planned their stories to bring out the story arc, developing the exposition, rising action, climax, and resolution. They worked to use a blend of dialogue, description, and action in order to develop characters, build suspense, and bring the story to life. On Friday, student shared their spooky stories with each other. To celebrate, we watched a cartoon spin on The Legend of Sleepy Hollow called the Haunted Pumpkin of Sleepy Hollow.
